What is it about?

We tested whether the Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) as a common health behavior change model can predict behavioral initiation and maintenance in those who feel physically younger, the same age, and older. Results show that principle working mechanisms of the HAPA can be applied to all three groups.

Why is it important?

Results might also guide the development of theory-based tailored interventions that target physical activity and consider focusing on subjective age, rather than chronological age.
