What is it about?

Validated numerical models can give a substantial aid to vehicle design in relation to safety issues: multiple experiments can be performed at low-cost, short times, in a fully controlled endeavour. In this article a validated numerical leg model has been provided and indications to improve vehicle bumper safety in relation to pedestrians injury have been given.

Why is it important?

Full details od the leg model have been provided; therefore experiments can be replicated and many more experiments can be performed, aimed to inquire other design issues.

Perspectives

There are other articles studying this subject, however model details are seldom disclosed. Here full information is given in order to allow replicating experiments and making many others.
