What is it about?
Accessibility, textbooks, and Access Services is about a Course Reserves unit at an academic library supporting patrons with disabilities by providing accessible PDFs of entire textbooks and required texts for courses in order to provide the same access for, as an example, low vision or blind patrons, in a format they can easily access within the same time frames as others.

Why is it important?
Providing access in an easy, timely manner for all patrons is essential in enabling positive outcomes and successful careers as students. researchers, and faculty. As institutions of education provide a wider range of access to information everyone benefits. Society benefits from all achievements and discoveries that might be overlooked or never realized without access for some.
Perspectives
As a hard-of-hearing, low vision, and physical disabilities person myself, I appreciate anything that encourages a universal knowledge of each others abilities and potentials. Processes and services that enable all patrons access to education, information, and an outlet for their creativity is always a good thing with benefits to society as a whole. Each of us deserves the opportunity for livelihood.
