What is it about?
Academic, peer reviewed journals where searched for articles that discussed health sciences or medical librarianship and intergenerational communication. With a lack of literature on the topic, articles that discussed librarianship in general and intergenerational communication where included. These articles where examined by the authors in order to understand the state of the literature on the topic of intergenerational communication in librarianship, and more specifically, health sciences librarianship.

Why is it important?
As the workforce continues to expand and include more generations, it is important for managers, library directors, and librarians themselves to consider how to best communicate and encourage communication with people from many different generations. It is also important for a service profession, such as librarianship, to consider how they might better communicate with all of the generations they serve.
Perspectives
Communication between the generations and frustration with communication with people from various generations is a rising concern in many workplaces. Libraries have many internal and external stereotypes and perceptions of librarians that reinforce age as a contributing factor to the ability to do the work of librarianship and any work that encourages a better understanding of generational differences could be of benefit.
