Why is it important?

The article is one of the first to properly engage with the question of how writers should read in a way that makes this reading most formative in their writing development.

Perspectives

One of the first pieces of advice anyone who wishes to become a better writer is given is 'read more' - yet this advice is almost always given without self/critical awareness. And instead of replying with 'what?' they should in fact ask 'how?' - and then they would really get to the heart of the matter.
