This study is a literature review conducted to know about the positive impacts, challenges of slow progression and solutions to overcome the issues in ecotourism initiatives based in India.

Why is it important?
Tourism industry is considered to be an industry that generates major chunk of income in an economy, but it creates several sustainable issues such as pollution, displacement of local communities, cultural degradation and so on. Hence, ecotourism initiatives were regarded as an essential step to tackle such challenges.
