What is it about?
This Special Issue, and the IFJP/FLACSO-Mexico co-sponsored conference “Feminisms and Conservatisms in Latin America” (September 2019) from which the articles were drawn, contribute to our understanding of feminisms and gender backlash by highlighting how feminists in Latin America, a region well known for the strength of its progressive movements, are grappling with concerted opposition to gender equality and wider global political shifts that pose renewed challenges to feminist politics.
