Why is it important?

As more universities are beginning to offer degrees in community arts it is increasingly becoming important to examine and review the impact the arts have on communities in terms of their well-being and development. My review highlights the challenges that a music practitioner faces in using music to enable or facilitate community development and engagement. This is especially timely in view of Higher Education's Widening Participation agenda and the need for effective Public Engagement.
