What is it about?
This article looks at what happened to Eurasian (Indo) communities of Indonesian descent after the end of colonialism in the Netherlands Indies, remaining in independent Indonesia, or settling in the Netherlands. The long process of decolonisation in both countries has led to different memories of Indonesia and different ways of identifying in two different postcolonial contexts.
