Why is it important?

The experience at Victoria University of Wellington provides a case study for changes to library research support model. Previously subject librarians would be the main library contact for staff covering all types of queries, there is now dedicated positions to remain authoritative and responsive to the research environment providing support and advice to all publishing researchers.

Perspectives

Research support services in the library is a fast evolving field. While New Zealand is not leading the way in this realm, it is responding to needs of researchers in this publish or perish environment. Ensuring the library is providing the appropriate services and resources remains essential.
