What is it about?
Quality of life is perceived differently due to a variety of factors. Understanding this and 'why' this is, can be instrumental in improving workplace productivity. This body of text covers quality of life from a Western point of view but nevertheless seeking to expand the understanding to a more international context.

Why is it important?
The rise of 'identity politics' is making its way into offices around the world. Those who boast a multicultural and/or multiethnic staff are likely to have direct or indirect conflict show up from to time. Knowing why there are differences between people from divergent backgrounds might lead to better productivity and harmony in the workplace.
Perspectives
Throughout my life, I have been exposed to different cultures due to living in different countries (on three separate continents). As a result, perhaps it is easier for me to handle projects in these environments as opposed to many of my peers. Quality of life (and work) improved only after being understanding with cultural norms, language barriers, and other related aspects. I hope that reading a formal account with extensive research behind it might make managers and researchers more aware of how difficult this is, and how best to approach it in their personal and professional lives.
