What is it about?

A Strategic Alliance is an important form of organisational collaboration contributing to a firm's competitive advantage and growth. This study examines the role of national and organisational culture in managing an alliance and in its successful outcome in the context of three alliances between India and Japan.

Why is it important?

The study highlights the role of trust, consensus in decision-making, communication and relationship building as key constituents of alliance management capability. It thus lays down a blueprint for successful alliance management for firms from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Perspectives

This study has brought out information on alliances which have not been studied earlier. The paper is crucial since India and Japan are currently desirous of enhanced business relations and its findings will help to chart the way for future such collaborative ventures.
