Why is it important?

In those rare cases when Muslim voices opposing violent extremism are allowed to inform the research, they typically appear to represent the more “official” side of Islam, for example, recording the official condemnations of terrorism by European Muslim representatives, committees, and umbrella organizations or the worldwide appeal by Muslim scholars against ISIS in 2014. This study is not about such formal declarations but about Muslims everyday resistance to violent extremism.
