What is it about?

It's about the intangible things that people value about the places they live or work - the diversity of people, shared values and attitudes, neighborliness, a strong sense of community. In particular, the article shows how built environment professionals (planners, architects etc.) may be unaware of these things and pay little or no attention to them when they are designing new buildings or preparing new planning controls for an area. This can be frustrating to local people.
