What is it about?

Following the 1947-1949 Arab-Israeli war, Israel and (Trans)Jordan engaged in armistice negotiations led by UN mediator Ralph Bunche. While these negotiations took place at Rhodes, secret bilateral negotiations took place directly between Jordan and Israel. In these negotiations Israel coerced Jordan into making large concessions. These Israeli measures included a military takeover of the southern tip of the Negev while negotiating and a blackmail regarding the West Bank border. In both cases Jordan caved in.
