What is it about?

This is an interview between Nicholl Montgomery, a PhD student at Boston College, and Dr. Cynthia Dillard (Nana Mansa II of Mpeasem, Ghana, West Africa). Dr. Dillard is the Mary Frances Early Professor of Teacher Education and Department Head, Department of Educational Theory and Practice (Early Childhood Education). The conversation centered on Black women and wellness.

Why is it important?

This conversation is important because we are in a climate where Black women and girls are under attack and they need the tools to be able to resist.

Perspectives

Interviewing Dr. Dillard and writing this essay was a great pleasure. I have new ideas on how to work with Black girls.
