What is it about?
In this review article, we report the recent developments and prospects in the field of ophthalmic nano-based drug delivery system as an innovative resource for improving the efficacy and the safety of the treatment of eye diseases. Our findings show that drug nanocrystal and lipid-based nanosystem provide an opportunity to decrease the frequency of administration, eliminate the need for intravitreal injection and reduce side effects. These benefits have the potential leading towards a significant change in ophthalmic preparations.
