" The case study of a mining company illustrated how the marketing function can be integrated into a SCM/logistics planning model by using risk priorities in demand forecasting. The forecast model was integrated in to a supply-demand SCM/logistics model which contained the mining and distribution costs for shipping tons of crystal garnet from the warehouses to the client sites using trucks, rail, boat/barge, and airline (as the company Prioritized logistics as marketing Strang 13 provides that service). In this scaled down model only three clients and two transportation methods were included. The company maintains three distribution warehouses, one close to its main plant in NY, and two others at other cities in NY State." (p. 13)
