What is it about?

In this study pack-boronizing of low alloy steel is carried out. Pack-boronizing is generally carried out in a steel container, in our study we found that this container has an effect on the properties of the boride layer formed. The role of the container is explained in this study along with the boronizing mechanism.

Why is it important?

In the boronizing based upon the boron potential single or, two-phase boride layer can form. Generally, the single-phase boride layer is more desirable. In pack-method, if the steel container is not properly selected and if no pre-treatment is given to the container. It is possible that we can get an improper boride layer on the steel specimens for the first few experiments. This study explores this aspect along with the boride formation mechanism.
