What is it about?

"You're intimidating" is a refrain women color faculty encounter in the academy. Based on my own experience with it, I theorize the comment as a microaggressive controlling image that is consequential to women of color faculty. The controlling image of "you're intimidating" reflects power and context factors and functions; the force of the image rests on its expression and representation. As well, I advance the idea of racial-gendered microaggression and intersectional microaggression to contribute to extant microaggression literature.
