What is it about?

This a review of cold plasma inactivation of spores. In this review, we summarize the factors that affect the resistance of spores to the cold plasma such as processing conditions, environmental elements, and spore properties. The inactivation targets in spore cells (e.g., outer structure, DNA, and metabolic proteins) that associated with inactivation by cold plasma were highlighted. The kinetic models of the cold plasma were equally summarized to give a better understanding of the interaction between spores and cold plasma.

Why is it important?

The important aspect of the study was highlighting the mechanism of cold plasma inactivation in bacteria spores

Perspectives

Preparing this article was challenging because it was not easy to compile many research articles and summarized their findings and discussion on the results. However, it was a privilege to work with the team (co-authors) due to their experience in the field of nonthermal technologies.
