What is it about?

The article demonstrates, through focus on a failing mine, how South Africa remains a society caught up in chronic violence, despite its vision of being a rainbow nation. The systemic relationship between corruption, official collusion with illegality, environmental damage and exploitation of workers typifies what is theorised as 'chronic violence'.
