Why is it important?

The gender difference in the use of humour is noteworthy and the more we know about our patients and how they cope with their illness, the better we, as nurses, can support them.

Perspectives

As I was collecting data exploring patients use of humour I found that there was a big difference between the male and female patients view of humour and how the nurses responded. Although I had not planned to write another paper exploring the humorous interactions between nurses and patients this gender difference was to obvious to ignore and this second paper the result.
