What is it about?

A study of the joint performance of a precast concrete pavement trial in Ontario, Canada. Joints were tested using FWD methodology, and the resulting data was used to compare differences in the performance of the joints throughout the trial.

Why is it important?

Precast concrete inlay panels (PCIP) as a means to rehabilitate high-volume asphalt highways is a novel practice. The use of relative joint displacement in addition to conventional load-transfer efficiency provides a clearer picture of joint performance.
