What is it about?

A novel approach that combines two numerical methods to simulate blood flow in thousands of liver vessels in individual liver segments (8 Couinaud segments).

Why is it important?

Liver surgery are performed based on the segmental anatomy of the liver, hence blood flow simulations at the segment level are important for quantifying hemodynamic environment for liver function and regeneration.

Perspectives

This short communication is one of a series studies in our group for multiscale modelling of a generic virtual liver in its hemodynamic environment and pharamcokinetic features.
