What is it about?

At this late juncture (2018) the topic of colonialism and decolonisation has yet again become current in South Africa - although it seems a mere passing political thing. I wrote this longish poem as a kind of retort, nettled, piqued by poor historical consciousness. It's set in Cape Town, the precincts of the old castle, Salt River, Woodstock, and environs. In a syncretic/synchronic kind of time-zone, anywhere in the first half of the twentieth century - into the present day. Railways, and metalwork and coinage or currency, and fabric, fibre, the clothing industry - our modernity, stamp, and fabric. Sartor resartus....
