What is it about?
This paper critically analyses the way in which a successful adulthood' is constructed in the 2014 Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice. It explores the values that are attached to adulthood when it is reduced to the requirements and desires of neoliberalism. This work argues that by limiting adulthood to the narrow criteria of employment, independence, participation in society and being healthy, education fails to give children and young adults the opportunities to pursue their own aspirations.
