What is it about?
This mixed methods study sought the views of early childhood studies students from 3 universities in England. The importance of placement was highly valued by students. Students highlighted that academic and pastoral care was needed. The ECS degree is a firm foundation for a range of roles in children's services. The findings helped to inform the development of the Graduate Competencies.

Why is it important?
At a time when some degrees are under threat because of a lack of graduate roles, it is critically important that ECS degrees are available to prepare the workforce.
Perspectives
Conducting this research with Professor Lumsden was an enjoyable experience, writing the paper took for ever, but I am so pleased with the final article and how it has been received
