Why is it important?

We use a novel data source that is richer and more comprehensive than other works on governors in Russia. We also like the research to broader debates on what backgrounds are conducive to success in politics.

Perspectives

This article is the data touchstone for a range of works by the co-authors and others. It introduces an important new data source on the bacgrounds of subnational officials in Russia that is available to all researchers.
