Why is it important?

Anybody writing on this subject should use the terminology properly and with some acknowledgement of its historical roots; "partisan" means something completely different in the 18th century and in the first half of the 20th century ! Carl Schmitt for one got thoroughly muddled as he didn't give a d***n about history.
