What is it about?

Employees form an opinion about their company's social initiatives. Positive opinions about CSR project the company positively and reduces the cynicism among employees. Although this is true for both managers and non-managers, managers reduce their cynicism significantly more than non-managers. If employees get involved in CSR activities, it does result in a more positive opinion of their company's CSR activities, however involvement couldn't be proven to reduce cynicism.

Why is it important?

Corporates invest in social initiatives such as CSR however the effect it can have on employees is seldom considered in the planning of such activities. As general cynicism against corporations is increasing, it would certainly help if companies communicate CSR activities with their employees more often and try to involve them in these activities as much as possible.
