Why is it important?

Readers are requested to read the article and suggest how PMTCT program can be optimally implemented in private for profit health sector of the country.

Perspectives

This is the first study on the subject from India and suggest policy decision at level of NACO to ensure uniform implementation of PMTCT program in the country specially with availability of highly efficacious multidrug ARV PMTCT Regimen which aims at eliminating Pediatric HIV transmission. If same status continued India will lag behind other countries. Even Malwai and other resource limited countries have been able to implement PMTCT program in private health facilities with government support for HIV test kits and ARV drugs.
