What is it about?

This study confirms that there is still high burden of undiagnosed HIV infection among older children in countries with prior high adult HIV prevalence. Therefore there is need for enhanced provider-initiated testing in this age-group which is currently being missed by the PMTCT. Further, despite awareness of the benefits of HIV testing, HIV-related stigma still dominates parents/guardians’ psychological landscape, therefore there is need for comprehensive information and support for families.
