What is it about?

Various methods were used to estimate the influence of the main factors that violate the stability of the initial conditions for the formation of small scale resistance spot welding joints. Also, due to the fact that the parameters of the surface roughness and the thickness of the oxide layer play the most important role in stabilizing the contact resistance between the details, additional calculations of the resistance of the surface layer was performed by software developed using Delphi.

Why is it important?

This research opens up new possibilities for controlling the properties of welded joints, which are heavily dependent on the parameters of the surfaces as well as wear of the electrodes using the power supplies with programming control which allow forming a current pulse with the necessary amplitude-time curve.
