This paper is about pointing out the existence of the non-descender letters and the all-cap letters in historic Arabic writing. This is presented visually and in literature. It is also about classifying and analyzing this type when it existed.

Why is it important?

The issue presented by the paper contradicts the current common belief of the users of Arabic including the natives. Thus, first, it is important to clarify this misconception. In our modern times there is a need for localization and bi-lingual documentation. To achieve best results, some enhancements on the writing systems are required. Among such enhancements are the All-cap and non-descender Arabic. This paper is important to demonstrate to the native Arabic users that such enhancements are not alien to their language but are part of its historical development.
