The connection between the intelligence agencies of the major powers and Al-Qaeda.

Why is it important?

The apparent counterintelligence sophistication of al-Qaeda, and groups like it, must be placed in proper context - such skills were originally passed by the major powers to client states' intelligence services who then passed to proxies, who intern defused said knowledge to al-qaeda.

Perspectives

I wrote this article to highlight the unintended consequences of sharing intelligence and counterintelligence techniques with client states.
