What is it about?

Hooking up includes any sexual behavior from kissing to sex. Hooking up is common on college campuses, but people have not looked into reasons why people hook up. In this study, we looked at having oral, vaginal, or anal sex during a hook up. We found that how often students drink was related to more frequent oral and vaginal sex when hooking up. We also found that having sex because its exciting also was related to greater oral and vaginal sex during a hook up. Having sex for your partner or having sex to fit in were related to greater anal sex during a hook up. College men tended to have more oral and vaginal sex when hooking up and held greater motivations to have sex for excitement and to fit in. For men in particular, having sex to feel less distressed was related to greater oral and vaginal sex during a hook up, while having sex to fit in was related to greater anal sex during a hook up.
