What is it about?

In their professional practice, occupational therapists are in permanente contact with emotionally draining situations, making these professionals vulnerable to a burnout diagnosis because of their constant emotional output with regard to their relationships with their clientes.

Why is it important?

Therefore, the purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate the potential burnout levels of this professionals across the country. It aimed to determine the number of occupational therapists who present burnout and relate these levels with therapists’ age, gender, years of professional experience, age of the population cared for and area of practice.

Perspectives

This study represented an opportunity for occupational therapy professionals become aware of their needs and to reflect on how to maintain occupational balance and well-being.
