Why is it important?

The economic benefits from the development of novel breeding material of wheat can be utilized immediately in new cultivars with significant increase of yield. Thus farmer income will be raised across all production areas for wheat. The environmental benefits include more effective exploitation of agricultural lands affected by salinity with better management of water and reduced losses of nutrients. There will be more choices of wheat germplasm for plant breeders in Pakistan.

Perspectives

I hope this article makes the wheat breeder to use this screened germplasm to develop the salt tolerant traits in wheat breeding program. Thus farmer income will be raised across all production areas for wheat
