Why is it important?

It brought again to the political limelight the usurpation of power by the executive arm of government over the judicial arm.

Perspectives

It was quite challenging writing this article with a co-author as the ssues were germane and relevant to the constitutional development of Nigeria. However,it was regrettable that the suits instituted in the courts were later drawn by the chief justice and was he was compulsorily retired. A similar issue had occured in Pakistan and the court action was pursued to a logical end by the chief justice and he was reinstated by the supreme court.
