What is it about?
New biological drugs and methods such as bronchial thermoplasty have improved the treatment of difficult-to-treat or severe asthma. For moderate and severe allergic asthma, omalizumab is the gold standard treatment. However, these treatments may not be effective in all cases. We have reported the case of a patient with severe allergic asthma for which specific immunotherapy was successfully administered after asthma control was achieved with biological drugs.

Why is it important?
We believe that our report makes a significant contribution to the literature because our findings indicate that an individualized approach and phenotype-specific treatment may be effective for patients who – according to guidelines - cannot receive allergen-specific immunotherapy due to uncontrolled asthma.
Perspectives
I hope this article provides help on how people can treat severe asthma patients with biologicals.
