This article explains how we started and evaluated a "Laptop Librarian" service, where librarians went with a laptop to research buildings and provided information for staff working there.

At the time we started this service and wrote this article, there weren't many publications that talked about outreach services like this, especially in our type of setting.
Perspectives
Starting the "Laptop Librarian" service was a great experience. I met people who I normally would not have encountered, and that is the whole point of a service like this.
