What is it about?

This is a review of Talja Blokland's well regarded book 'Community as Urban Practice'

Why is it important?

Blokland argues that ideas of community as a stable construct (e.g. relationships with kin, friends, social groups or neighbours) are no longer appropriate to our more fluid encounters in a globalizing world. But 'communities' have not died, they have just changed.

Perspectives

A much recommended book to anyone interested in how we continue to make and belong to 'community'.
