What is it about?

This study aimed to explore the plantar loading variables between habitual rearfoot strike (RFS) and non-rearfoot strike (NRFS) during running

Why is it important?

previous studies mainly explored NRFS runners’ plantar loads by guiding participants to convert their habitual RFS pattern into an NRFS pattern . Such an approach may lead to inaccuracies in representing injury factors for a prolonged period .the present study aims to explore and compare plantar load characteristics between habitual RFS and NRFS runners.

Perspectives

Habitual NRFS runners have lower total plantar loads compared with the habitual RFS runners. But higher loads in the forefoot may be associated with metatarsal stress fractures and compensatory damage to the Achilles tendon and triceps surae strains. Therefore, runners should choose the proper FSP according to their own physical situations. I hope this article thought-provoking
