What is it about?

University students were taught how to write an inroductory paragraph for an academic essay following recommended organisational techniques. The 2-hour workshop was effective in improving the quality of introductions. For students who handed in a later essay marked by their course tutors, the quality of the introduction was a good predictor of the grade their essay got.
