What is it about?
This article sets out a new theory of moral panics, which can capture the dynamics of the increasingly common types of disputes over such issues as protest, gender, and social justice. These are disputes between multiple actors, each with their own perspectives and prejudices, acting within a world of fragmented social media. The article applies this method to contemporary transgender debates.
