Why is it important?

It is important because societies continue to be divided by inequalities and prejudices, particularly in relation to education and schooling, Artefacts such as uniforms, accents and appearance all contribute to how people are viewed and classed in their worlds.

Perspectives

I engaged in this research because I experienced and witnessed various levels of inequality in education throughout my working life as a post-primary teacher and latterly as an academic. I cotinue to be interested in how our sociocultural worlds work with larger structural inequalities (income, living conditions, wealth, etc) to create unfairness and injustice in our society.
