Why is it important?

This work is devoted to study the amenability of recycling the shredded currency waste of the ECB in the form of good-quality products.

Perspectives

Shredded currency waste has been identified as a good source of cellulosic fiber for making good-quality papers. Egyptian Central Bank, ECB, generates significant quantities of shredded currency paper waste in the form of compressed briquettes of size 15 cm x 8.75 cm x 6 cm. These compressed briquettes are burned in special furnaces within the Egyptian Bank premises under the supervision of its senior official’s team. The treatment of the shredded currency paper waste has proved to be a good source of alternative raw material for making good-quality paper products such as stationery and other office products, high-quality art papers and as a printed circuit board substrate.
