In this article, we reviewed the different approaches to estimate an economic valuation of time for the case of freight transport in different settings.

Why is it important?
It is the first thorough review of this topic in recent years. Estimating the value of time has been done extensively for the passengers' transport but, surprisingly enough the freight transport (which in terms of GDP is even more relevant) has had little attention from researchers.
Perspectives
This topic will be more relevant in the coming years as the freight movement increases globally. The value of time in the freight scope is one of the key parameters to make an economic evaluation of infrastructure.
