What is it about?

Covenanter Presbyterians were universally antislavery, even in the American South. Yet their logic diverged from the majority of abolitionists. This article explains the way this unique religious sect attempted to be Biblical literalists and antislavery at the same time. It also examines how they maintained their identity in places like South Carolina where antislavery views were not welcome.
